William J. Hwang, MD is a board-certified neurologist with additional board certifications in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he has dedicated his career to the evaluation and treatment of patients with traumatic brain injuries, neurological disorders, and complex pain conditions. He is also a Certified Life Care Planner and has completed advanced certification in concussion and mild traumatic brain injury management through the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hwang has cared for patients across a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient neurology practices, and multidisciplinary brain injury programs. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic brain injuries, stroke, concussion, headaches, movement disorders, neuromuscular conditions, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and other complex neurological conditions. He also performs comprehensive neurological evaluations and has extensive experience with procedures such as EEG interpretation, EMG, spinal injections, botulinum toxin therapy, and other interventional treatments.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Hwang is recognized for his expertise in medicolegal evaluations. He regularly serves as an expert witness in depositions and trials involving traumatic brain injuries and other neurological conditions, helping provide objective medical opinions supported by decades of clinical experience.
Dr. Hwang completed his residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital and his Neurology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He earned his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and his bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine.
